When these HDACs are inhibited the histones are released and the promoter region is expressed. Due to this HIV escapes the latent or inactive period. SAHA was selective in its action against HDACs belonging to class I. It induces the expression of the promoter region of the HIV-1. These results suggest that SAHA targets a persistent HIV infection (proviral) [2].

VORINOSTAT: EFFECT ON BONE DAMAGE

Vorinostat is a pan-HDAC inhibitor which has significant effects on the remodeling of the bones under in vivo conditions. It decreases bone volume and regulates the levels of bone mass within mice.
