Scientists are people who dedicated their live and work to discover knowledge and build up Science.

The World of Snark is an online blog dedicated to people who are working hard to discover the secret of nature. Here in this blog, the latest academic work and research will be featured. It is dedicated to build a supportive community for scientist and academic community. The name of this blog is inspired by Lewis Carroll’s famous poem, The Hunting of Snark. It is a poem about a peculiar creature name Snark. This creature is hard to catch and need courage to hunt it.

The inspiration from the poem is that Science is like the Snark. There is no exact form of it until we discovered it. Just like hunting Snark, research needs courage and sacrifice. As this blog is dedicated to academic work and research, it will support those who are working in this field to share their research and get feedback to bring their research to the next level.

Carroll left it as an unimaginable creature and let our imagination gives us our own Snark. However, it created lots of curiosity about Snark and off course, the poem it selves.

Lots of people come with their own theory about what kind of Snark look like. This created another term called Snark hunting. Off course it is not trying to catch the real Snark, since it is totally fiction, but trying to find the closer definition of Snark. There are lots of arguments about the Snark, from the linguistic aspects of Snark, Snark shape, and many more. One of the popular writings about Snark is The Annotated Snark by Martin Gardner. In his book, Gardner recorded that Lewis Carroll him selves admitted that he didn’t have clear picture about the Snark. He wanted everyone picture the Snark with their imagination.

It is very interesting that an imaginary poem could create enthusiasm to hunting the Snark. Just like written in the poem, the Snark is a peculiar creature that cannot be captured in a commonplace way. Above all, courage is required during a Snark hunt. Snark lives in your imagination and it needs your own courage to find it deep in your mind.

What is snark? Well. You might be very strange with this term. The Snark is popularized by Lewis Carroll as it appeared in his famous poem, The Hunting of the Snark. Snark is a fictional creature in an island many months sail away from England.

Since it first published, Lewis Carroll’s The Hunting of Snark has been drawing lots of curiosity. There are many arguments about where the word the Snark derived from. Well, let the linguists decide it. However, lots of curiosity appeared since Lewis Carroll didn’t explain clearly what kind of Snark it is. He only described that there was some varieties of Snark. Some with feather and bite, and some have whiskers and scratch. The rest of it, he left it unimaginable.

Although some people consider it as nonsense poem, it draws lots of curiosity. It is like they are like to hunting the Snark. Well, off course it is not literary hunting for the real Snark, since it is totally fictional. Snark hunting much closely means as explaining your own version of Snark. Yes, it is multi-interpretation indeed. However, there is no limit for imagination isn’t it? Let we know what kind of your Snark is.
