Organic Farming
Organic Farming
The farming in old fashion which is known otherwise as non organic farming, consisted of using various chemicals and pesticides to fight against various pest infestations as well as for the production of better crops.
The aim of organic farming is to produce livestock and crops by making use of economic, humane and environmental systems that are available naturally to the maximum level. For organic farming to function, we need two things. One is the presence of a land which is very fertile and which will aid in the healthy growing of various crops. The second factor is the availability of people who will be working on the land which has been chosen.
The following are the major factors to be considered if you are choosing to go ahead with the concept of organic farming:
1. The land which has been chosen for organic farming should contain soil that can be utilised for long periods of time without the usage of artificial fertilisers which are normally used while non organic farming.
2. The crops which are produce by organic farming must be given care in a very careful manner by avoiding the use of pesticides and herbicides.
3. The residues of the organic materials as well as the livestock must be recycled so that these can be used as manure for the crops grown via organic farming.
4. The growth of weeds as well as infestation of insects needs to be given proper control by employing the technique of crop rotation in organic farming. This indicates to avoiding the usage of scientific methods which are normally employed in non organic farming.
5. Do not opt for using the genetic engineering method for growing animals on the organic farming method.
Finally, the various effects the organic farming will have on the environment must be assessed thoroughly.

Many farmers are keen to give organics ago but are unsure about the process involved and it’s viability. A new video produced by Mark Shea of Overlander.tv, hopes to demystify organic farming by bringing together some of Australias top commercial organic and non-toxic farmers, and ask them how they manage their enterprises without the use of synthetic fertilizers or pesticides. Mark joined a tour led by Nuffield Farming Scholar Don MacFarlane which took in ten different properties including the Victorian Agricultural Research Centre. The great thing about the video is that it allows the farmers involved to tell their own story on why they went organic, how they went about it and whether it has been a viable move. The video covers such diverse farming enterprises as organic cattle, sheep, poultry, pigs, grain, wine, fruit and vegetables.

Organic farming is the best farming approach, it’s not only for producing healthy food, but protecting the Ecosystems around us, and organic food is much more better than the convential food, especially the organic roasted chicken with rice, i’m so happy to see organic farms and happy animals with healthy plants, even the macro fauna in the soil are happy, organic farming = happy life, i am still studying in my organic school, my dream is to establish a healthy farm
Back to basics! Thank you, Australia for being a wonderful example of organic farming.

top video bro.
I’m a produce broker in south Jersey for 37 yrs. If you are concerned
about eating healthy , almost all crops grown in the U S are safe
to eat with or without chemicals . As an organic grower of fruits
and veggies , you will need a target market willing to buy from you.
We all hope , wish , & think organic is great . Are people educated
enough to accept food with bug holes , not very nice looking ,
willing to spend more $ $ $ $ cause it is organic ??? and so on .
This area of organic farming growing & selling is very special.
The T V show in the 60s GREEN ACRES will help answers any
questions about down home farming .
So organic by definition means that you input no synthetic fertilizers, nor apply synthetic pesticides. In theory this seems to reason to be a safer alternative, however, many of the most dangerous chemicals known to man have come from plants, not chemicals synthetically made. So organic isn’t exactly a saving grace. But, as with numerous other things, the media caught hold and blew things out of proportion and skewed facts and left others out, and most people won’t take the time to read for themselves or take university courses to learn the truth. I’m not altogether against organic, but right now people are doing it for the wrong reasons or just because the media says its good.
The greatest advantage without a doubt is economic.
There is a premium market (which in my opinion is generally unjustified…certain crops I can accept organic) which encourages organic farming, because farmers can sell their crops for far more than they would with “conventional” farming.
My biggest problems with organic farming is that good organic techniques can be applied to conventional techniques. But it doesn’t go the other way. Sometimes (usually, if well managed), chemicals just do the job with little or no consequences.
